Dr Justine Schelle

Dr Justine Schelle After growing up in the tropical climate of Northern Territory’s north-east Arnhem Land and going to boarding school in north Queensland, Dr Schelle moved as far south as possible to attend the University of Tasmania.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery in 1996, she worked at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and then moved to London to work in psychiatry for several years.

In 2000 she commenced specialist training with the College of Psychiatrists, working in Sydney’s Prince of Wales, Rozelle, Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals.  In 2005 she became a Member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.  Dr Schelle was awarded a Master of Psychiatry in 2006.

Dr Schelle has held consultant psychiatrist positions in Tamworth (ten years as a FIFO psychiatrist), Canterbury Community Health Centre, as well as working in medico-legal work. In 2016 she commenced her present position as the consultant psychiatrist for the Assertive Outreach Team at the Royal North Shore Hospital.

From her experience of growing up and working rurally,  Dr Schelle is certainly aware of the paucity of health services in such areas, whist appreciating that even in cities it can be difficult to find a psychiatrist who one really connects with.

Dr Schelle has a particular interest in psychiatry relating to fertility and is eager to assist individuals and families during what can be an emotional, isolating and costly journey.
