At FPC we offer a broad range of psychiatric services that are delivered via telehealth. Please note that we do not offer ongoing treatment.

Accessing Superannuation for Medical Treatment

Superannuation can be withdrawn, by you or your dependent, if you require treatment for:

  • A life threatening illness or injury
  • Acute or chronic pain
  • Acute or chronic mental illness

Example treatments include:

  • IVF, including egg harvesting
  • Gastric sleeve surgery
  • Gastric bypass surgery

We are able to assist you with these examples, however, please reach out if your needs are not covered above.

Please visit our FAQs page for more details on the Compassionate Release of Superannuation

Psychiatric Assessment and Treatment Plan

The assessment is usually the first stage of a treatment process, however, psychiatric assessments may also be used for the legal purpose of report writing.

The assessment includes:

  • Social and biographical information
  • Direct observations
  • Information gained from other sources such as a GP, relative or friend
  • In some circumstances, specific psychological tests are performed to further assist with qualifying a diagnosis.

Initial psychiatric assessments generally take an hour, though additional time may be required to obtain additional information.

Prenatal Psychiatric Medication Advice

This service provides medication advice for women who are hoping to become pregnant. The topics covered include:

  • Is my current psychiatric medication appropriate?
  • Should I start taking psychiatric medication?
  • Is psychiatric medication safe during pregnancy?

The outcome is a full psychiatric assessment made available to the client and their GP

Please note that you can access this service separately from any ATO application, however, you will still need a GP referral.
