Age of Australian Mothers

We are frequently asked by clients how they compare to others accessing our services. Whilst we do carry out our own analytics, it is also helpful to compare our insights against trends in the general community. We find the Australian Institute of Health and Wealthfare site an invaluable resource of data in this exercise.

Over the next few weeks, we will be posting insights as we go through the latest figures published by AIHW, today is looking at the Maternal Age. The following two graphs have been taken from the maternal age page and clearly show the trend towards increased Average maternal age in the 30-34 and the 35-39 groups.

30-34 Age Group

35-39 Age Group

Assuming that the trend of mothers starting their families at an older age continues, we can only assume that the distribution of our clients (see graph below) will continue to move towards the right. Currently, the average client age seeing our services is 36 years old.
